BIG BABY!!!

Heather went for another ultrasound this morning to see if they could see if there is a reason for her having a lot of amniotic fluid. Basically what we found out was that Carsten is going to be big! Right now he is 7 lbs 1 oz. and not even 36 weeks yet. The tech could find no reason for the excess fluid other than it being a fairly common quirk. Heather’s doctor said everything looked great and for her to continue on bedrest until about March 10th and then she won’t try to stop him from coming.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Heather still has two more weeks of laying in bed so keep her and Carsten in your prayers for her to keep her sanity.

Does this baby want to be as big as his mom was at birth? Take care of youse.

It must be a family quirk. I had excess amniotic fluid with Steven. It’s called polyhydramnios. It can cause minor complications towards the end of pregnancy (like you are experiencing) and during delivery, but is not nearly as big of a problem as too little amniotic fluid. The good news is that because Steven was cushioned by so much fluid during labor and delivery, he came out with the most perfectly-shaped head. Take care and try not to worry too much.

So glad the ultrasound looked good.

I’ve found that Oprah can be a pretty good diversion while lying in bed. But even she can get a bit boring after so many weeks. Hope the days go fast! Hugs, Hegs!

Could Robin and I interest you in an hour’s entertainment on week days when “All My Children ” is on? (are on?) We need another nut case just to prove that it is very worthwhile, educational TV. And after all, when Carsten gets here, you are going to want to arrange his feedings so that you can feed him at noon, and just naturally have TV on while you do it. Your life will be much enriched by it!

And just to prove the validity of the description “nut case”, if you are interested in any spoilers or message boards on the above mentioned show, I can direct you to some worthwhile, educational websites.

Hope your shower was a blast (and a welcome reprieve!)
